Positive impacts on academic performance, social and cultural enrichment, and much more...
Research has shown that foreign language study in the early elementary years improves cognitive abilities, positively influences achievement in other disciplines, and results in higher achievement test scores in reading and math. École Saint-Landry charter school is a French immersion elementary school, which means all courses will be taught in French, with the exception of the English Language Arts class. Comprehension comes first, so within a few weeks of school, your child will understand much of what his/her teacher is saying, but within a few months -- they'll not only be speaking words but sentences! Typically in their second year with us, students can hold full conversations in French with their teacher.
Our Lafayette Parish School System friends south of École Saint-Landry share how French immersion is changing everything for their students and families.

French immersion students meet or exceed English program students’ performance in mathematics.
Students in French immersion have higher self-esteem, better social skills, and tend to be more understanding of world cultures.

"I love the small class sizes and knowing that my child is getting a head start on a valuable skill. She’s French on her father’s side, and learning French from a young age will connect her to her heritage. She was scared to start a new school, but she has made lots of new friends and we love her new teachers."
"I love going to school because I love learning French, and one day I will talk to Nana in French too."
"Maci is enjoying her new school. She likes her teachers. As a parent I like the media tools and the daily information posts. I also appreciate the school offering after care, and most of all the bus transportation."
